The iconic designer Charles Eames once said, "The details are not the details, they make the product". Truer words could not be used to describe the home tour I'm sharing with you today. Every detail was thought out by Charleston, South Carolina native, and iconic designer in her own right, Cortney Bishop. Cortney and her team poured so much soul and creativity into this stunning project, and the results are absolute drool-worthy perfection.
Maybe you've visited Charleston on holiday or have, at the very least, seen some of its charms on TV. With its chillaxed vibes, rainbow painted homes and gorgeous gas lanterns that punctuate the windy cobblestone streets as a nod to the city's roots, it has a special place in my heart. With all this beauty and its beachy terrain, it's no surprise that Charleston is routinely named the best wedding and vacation destination in the US.
All of this beauty is only a part of Charleston life. It’s also a funky town boasting uber-cool creatives and a very progressive food and night life scene that melds perfectly with its old world charm. The combination of palm trees, porch swings hanging from the Haint painted ceilings (which I've been told are painted the soft blue-green hue to keep evil spirits at bay!) nudge you to slow down and enjoy a sweet iced tea. But if you really want to embrace the slow life, you need to head to Kiawah Island, located just 25 miles south of the city where today's gem of a home is located.
And speaking of slowing down, you might be interested to know that today is officially Lazy Day, which I didn’t know was an actual thing, but I'm definitely here for it. Especially since currently in Sydney the weather is crazy windy and chilly. Lingering in bed for an extra hour or so with a hot cup of coffee while soaking up all the beauty emitted from this stunning home feels like just the ticket. So get ready to tuck right into all of this gorgeousness.
